Crude Accountability is working together with local environmental groups to preserve the unique ecosystem of the Kuban River in southwestern Russia. The Kuban River is located in Krasnodar Krai, a rapidly developing region. Excessive and unsustainable extraction of natural resources and massive construction are destroying the ecosystem and undermining both tourism and agriculture in this region.
Our current projects in the region include a Peer-to-Peer Exchange Program and information support for local activists. Our past projects include working together with local interest groups to stop the construction of the Taman Oil Terminal. We offer organizational assistance, support, and expertise to our Russian colleagues that work towards the same goal of preserving the unique ecosystem of Krasnodar Krai. Our key partner is Environmental Watch on the North Caucasus.
