History in Turkmenistan
In December 2009, Petrofac Emirates secured a highly coveted contract with Turkmengaz to construct a gas plant, pipelines and infrastructure for the development of the South Yolotan field. [ii] Approximately $100 million reportedly was spent by Petrofac Emirates on the preliminary phase of the project. The second phase of development, which is worth $3.4 billion, began in December 2010 and was expected to last 31.5 months,[iii] and result in an annual pumping capacity of 10 billion cubic meters, which could later be doubled. In early March 2011, Petrofac announced that the first gas supplies from the South Yolotan field will begin in late 2013.[iv]
Petrofac was a bronze sponsor of the 2010 Turkmenistan International Oil and Gas Conference, a bronze sponsor of the 2011 Turkmenistan Gas Conference, and a bronze sponsor of the 2012 Turkmenistan International Oil and Gas Conference.[v]
