History in Turkmenistan
In April 2008, Baker Hughes acquired Gaffney Cline & Associates, the reservoir consulting firm that concluded the audit of the South Yolotan-Osman gas reserves in October 2008.[i]
According to the company’s 2010 fourth quarter and annual results, “The Russia Caspian geomarket was recently awarded cementing services, liner hangers, completions systems, drill bits and advanced wireline for the giant South Yoletan field in Turkmenistan. This field is believed to be one of the largest and most challenging natural gas fields in the world. The customer expects to drill up to 25 wells over the next three years.”[ii]
Current Scope of Operations
While Baker Hughes does not list details of it operations on its website, the company does post hiring positions, such as a cemeting helper, coild tubing operator/supervisor, and a cementing field operator, all of which are based in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.[iii]
